2-Ethyl Hexanol (2-EH) is a clear, uniform, non-toxic liquid with a characteristic odor, insoluble in water, soluble in organic solvent. It is obtained indirectly in OXO synthesis from propylene and synthesis gas.

2-EH is most commonly used in the production of Phthalates for rubber and plastic (PVC) fabrication. It is a good paint solvent and an active component of textile finishing formulation, acrylate and additives for diesel fuel and lube oil.
